Ways to work together
Every arrangement is named before it starts. We do not label ordinary operational work as volunteering and we do not promise paid work before funding and scope exist.

Opportunity-dependent02
A school or university project with a supervisor, learning objective, deliverable, feedback cadence and explicit agreement on ownership and publication.
Supervised learning03
Contributions to openly licensed data or external projects follow their own rules. Farleda’s product code is currently proprietary; access and usage rights need a separate agreement.
Agree licence and scope first04
Beta feedback, route-data research, translation, event help or domain review without joining an operating team or committing to recurring hours.
Voluntary and flexibleThe product you will contribute to
The current product film moves through planning, route comparison and the Trip Carbon Passport — the foundation for development, research, data work and communication.
Review the technical foundationFarleda: understand journeys, connect Europe. The current planner captures destinations and preferences. Comparison shows duration, changes and modelled emissions. The Passport keeps a signed planning record; it does not confirm completed travel. All figures are synthetic examples. Open beta from 31 October 2026. Seeking pilot partners: farleda.eu.
Contribution areas
Next.js, Astro, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, maps, routing, APIs, testing, observability and security.
Research, interface systems, mobile flows, inclusive design and real traveller testing.
GTFS quality, rail operations, uncertainty, factors, verification and transparent methodology.
Editorial work, social storytelling, partnerships, events and founder-community operations.
A bounded semester project, thesis question or school collaboration with a real product context.
Language quality, corridor knowledge, destination context and accessibility information.
Working principles
Farleda handles travel, personal data and environmental claims. Contributions therefore need a higher standard than shipping quickly at any cost.
How it starts
Choose an area, link relevant work and tell us which engagement type and time window are realistic.
We match your interest with a real need, a public issue or a suitable supervised project.
Paid, academic and voluntary work each receive the appropriate written scope before contribution begins.
Work is reviewed, tested and credited according to your preference and the contribution agreement.
Fair contribution policy
A voluntary or open-source contribution is self-directed, can stop at any time and carries no fixed availability or operational duty. Paid roles, internships and contracts are offered only through a separate written agreement with compensation and conditions. A student project stays centred on a supervised learning outcome.
Start with the system
These are the best entry points into Farleda and the open infrastructure it depends on.
Licences, dependencies, data sources and the current contribution posture. Publishing selected project components is a future option; the open beta does not imply a public source-code release.
